Step Outside of Your Comfort Zone
Now is a good time to experiment
Due to everything going on lately, I have found myself scrolling social media and watching the news more than writing.
However, I can feel that it is taking a toll on my mental state, so I believe that I need something else to focus on. I think that writing will help me feel better.
At the moment, I have no idea what to write about. Usually, I enjoy writing about life lessons, or things I have discovered about writing. Right now, I am so distracted that I can’t focus on any of the topics I usually love to dive into.
So, I am changing it up. Instead of forcing myself to write something, I am trying to think of other things I have wanted to write about but haven’t written about lately. And maybe you need to do the same.
Things are up in the air right now. No one knows when life will return to normal. We have no idea where we are headed and what will happen.
But that doesn’t mean we have to stop writing.
It may be more challenging to write at the moment since we are being bombarded with the news and updates every 5 seconds.
Think about it though. At the moment, a lot of us are outside of our comfort zones in our daily lives. Why not step outside of our writing comfort zone too?
I still have to go to work every day, but there isn’t a lot of work coming in. Instead of spending 8 hours scrolling through the same news articles over and over, I started to brainstorm what I could do to pass the time.
One thing that I thought to do is buy a book for my Kindle that I can read while at work. I love writing book reviews, so I am planning on posting a review to Medium once I’m done with the book.
It will be a fun way to make sure I am still writing every week. It will also stop me from stressing about having to produce my usual type of content.
And who knows, maybe someone who is bored will see the book review, decide to read the book, and then they will have something to do for a few days. What could be better than reading when we have no choice but to stay home?
Whatever you may have been wanting to start but have been putting off, use this time to start. We always complain about not having enough time. Now we have more time than we know what to do with, so make the most of it!
